Whew...working on quilts!

Oh, my it has been so long since I have posted!! But this weekend has been busy so I should have several over the next few days!

My first project of this snowy weekend was finishing my brother's Christmas gift/wedding quilt. I have posted other pics previously of this quilt as table top decorations. But now it is all put together in a quilt that will hopefully remind them of the night of their rehersal dinner. (My sister Deb and brother in law Jeff are pictured enjoying said rehersal dinner).



I am really happy with how this one came out. The back is cool with the bandanas. The colors are great. And I think it will make a nice long lasting memory as well as a useful way to keep warm on a snowy day like today!

Scrappy Lappy

This is a little project I have been piddling around with lately. I had some 5 inch charm squares and a Snails Tail block that did not fit with the other blocks I had made, so I put them together with some other scraps that I had and a star fabric I liked but had not used yet. I really like how it came out. Lots of fun.

It is a small size, just a lap quilt. I have some flannel to go on the back.

The wedding quilt

Finally revealed! Pictures of the quilt I made for my brother on the occassion of his wedding. I found this pattern online and loved it. The blocks are standard log cabin blocks, but I like the image it makes all put together. And I added two hearts in the middle to signify the two love birds giving their hearts to each other.

Of course, thanks as always go to the quilting frame for binding and quilting this one. Sandra did a great job.

And when we gave this to Stevie and Lauren we all stood around it and prayed over, that it would be a reminder that the two are now one, covered over in love. Also, Ashok prayed a beautiful prayer about the various peices of who they are as a couple symbolically coming together to become one beautiful creation. It was really nice. I hope they will enjoy this quilt for many years to come.

trying to quilt...

Well, I was trying to get back in the saddle today and work on a few quilting projects, but this little boy found a new favorite spot!

IT IS DONE!!!
Whew.
This seemed like an easy task, but hours and days of cutting, piecing, folding, measuring, ironing and sewing later, it is finally done. The centerpieces are ready and there is a nice large quilt waiting in the wings to be made. The edging was the task that really took some time today, and it is too bad we will have to remove the edging once the dinner is over in order to make the quilt.

I did run out of blue fabric, which is what I was edging the squares with, so I improvised and used white. I figure white is always good when it comes to a wedding.

So I wanted to post some final shots. I am looking forward to seeing these on the table and ready for use!!

Final pic of centerpeice. I am still working with the border, but essentially this is what they will look like! Some will be opposite as far as which blocks have color and which will be white. I am really happy with it!!

Here is a picture of the squares put together. It is blurry but it gives the idea. I think this will look great when it is made into a quilt.
