Beacon light

A new addition to my little quilt collection. This one will be a gift...to my soon to be former boss. The symbol for our company is a lighthouse, so I have tried to capture a lighthouse theme in the pattern. I have paired a star pattern (to symbolize the light) with a striped pattern to symbolize the body of the lighthouse. The back is a sort of nautical pattern that compliments the theme of the front. It took a long time to decide on the fabrics and pattern. I then planned it out on my graph paper so that I would know if it really captured the theme I was going for. I really like how it turned out. I am going to have it quilted, and hopefully it will be done in time to give it to my boss before my final day at work. But I wanted to show her how much she means to me and how much I care. I hope it shows in this gift.

Pinwheels for the quilt Diva

This is my newest quilt...done from fabric given to me by my mom (Thanks mom!) so this quilt is dedicated to her on this mother's day and will always be my Duke quilt, since making it helped me get through losing my own little "baby". But I really enjoyed this one. Did not take pictures of the stages, but I am not totally done yet. THere will be another edge around the outside and of course I have to chose the backing. But those pics will follow.

The fabrics are great. Really fun...Made for the "Quilt Diva!" But the colors are different than I usually choose, but that is what inspired the pinwheel design. I have never done pinwheels and really not much with triangles, and I really enjoyed it. It gives a lot more motion to the quilt. Block quilts feel a bit more static.

So now I have to decide on the back. Not sure if I want the back to have pattern or be simple to offset the front. I feel like this quilt leaves a lot of options for something different.

THanks so much mom!! Love you soo much!

The final product!

These are the pictures of my finished quilt. What a journey it has been! I had the quilt finished at the Quilting frame, our local quilting store. Sandra did an awesome job! It has such a professionally finished look. The quilting looks so good, and it was soo much easier this way. I can't wait for a cool night to wrap up in it.
